Crystal Version

just got Crystal from a friend. he's letting me borrow it.

Agreed 100%. As you'd know Shadow, I had a recent playthrough of Crystal - I havn't gotten all 16 badges yet, but I'm only 2 away. Crystal really is an instant classic.. Best story mode of any pokemon game. If I'm willing to play an ancient GBC game for so long, you know it's good(I usually can't stand playing old games :lol!: ). [/tear of joy]

cool. this is actually my very first time playing Crystal or Johto for that matter.

i haven't even beat the first gym. i went in fought the first week trainer, saw he had a LV15. beat him and ran, not going back there until i have a Quilava

Well, good news then. Cyndaquil evolves at lv. 14(if I remember right).

If I may give a bit of advice, teach Typhlosion the thunderpunch TM when you can buy it at Goldenrod. It really pays off, since I decided to go aggro on my playthrough lvling up only Typhlo, fire/electric/normal smashed everything but rock/ground types, which were usually decimated by two fire attacks. Add in a water type, and you're set.

I just beat the Ecturuk(sp?) gym, the ghost gym if i spelled the name really badly. My newly evolved Gyrados along with my powerful Butterfree ripped them up with Bite and Confusion, respectively. i'm now headed to the next gym.

That's definatly a good moveset for Typhlo, almost the exact same as my own. My own moveset was..

Thunderpunch
Flame wheel(which turned into Flamethrower during the E4, thanks to lv. up)
Fire Punch
Strength

I didn't want to waste the TM on Typhlo, considering I was planning to use them towards a team to beat Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2.

well i'm only playing to get why everyone loved it. i can see why buy now i just want to get through it once before giving it back to my buddy.

Told ya. XD Typhlosion with Thunderpunch, a Fire move, and a Normal move owns.

... You killed the shiny Gyarados?! DX Wow ... that's lame. Why didn't you save before fighting it? o.o Ah well. Atleast it wasn't an actual rare shiny.

beat the league and i'm now conquering the Kanto gyms.

in the elite 4 only Koga managed to get a hit in before death. and that was Toxic, which was instantly cured by the PSNCURE BERRY it was holding. i came prepared. then at Lance, i actually had to revive a poke. my Suicune couldn't take 3 hyper beams from 3 dragonites.
